Hello! My name is Vera!

I made this website to have a place to say everything I want to say.

As I said, my name is Vera. My pronouns are it/she/they—in no particular order—and I love the marching arts, jazz, electronic music production, and old tech. I really hope that you enjoy my site and are able to get to know me.

(not very) FAQ:

Q: What's your setup?
A: Currently I'm using a Ryzen 7 1800X with a Radeon RX 6600 and 32GB of RAM. I'm running Windows 11, albeit pretty modified (see photos). My phone is an iPhone 16e.

This is just my first monitor. I have two, but it's exactly the same

Q: What's with that choice of parts?
A: It wasn't much of a choice. I bought this computer prebuilt back in about 2022, back when you couldn't get a graphics card unless you wanted a down payment. Eventually, pretty much every part failed or was upgraded. It originally came with a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 6600XT. The only part I'm unsure that failed is the CPU, because I never retested it, and ended up selling it as is anyway, but everything else except the SSD, power supply and case failed and/or was replaced.

Q: How did you get Windows 11 to look like that?
A: It's mainly WindHawk. Here's a list of my installed mods. As a disclaimer, Windhawk directly modifies system files, so proceed with caution. I also used a program to remove all the bloat from Windows 11.

Q: Why not Linux?
A: I've tried. It didn't work for me. For one, most of the software I use is only for Windows, or does not completely work on Linux. I mainly use Musescore and FL Studio. FL Studio does not work on Linux. Nor does vst (natively, and the compatibility layer is not my favorite). Musescore does natively support Linux, but firstly, it does not update. You have to manually reinstall Musescore to get new updates. Secondly, VST does not work with Linux Musescore. I know alternatives to FL Exist, but I already learned one software, I shouldn't have to learn another one. Another reason is just that Windows is way easier to use for me. I can get some .exe file off the internet and it just works, especially installer files. The only way I'd switch off of Windows is if it had native support for .exe files and Windows installers. I guess I'll wait for ReactOS to be stable in another 20 years.

Q: What instrument do you play?
A: Instruments, actually! I was originally a trumpet player, and I started in middle school. When I got to high school, the entire mellophone section had more or less disbanded (not my story, I won't tell it here), so I ended up being moved to the mellophone section, and I've stayed there ever since. I also played french horn for school; I do not like it.

Q: What instruments do you have?
A: I got my trumpet used off of offerup. It's a Getzen 700 series, I believe. I typically play on a Bach 1 1/2C or 3C. I have my school mellophone, which is a Yamaha YMP-204MS. I don't know the model of my horn, and I don't care enough to find out right now.
